Hi i was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and lung cancer within 2 weeks of each other. Fast forward I have now had hysterectomy for endometrial cancer and all good with no more treatment recommended. Had lobectomy for lung cancer 3 weeks ago and now they say it is in lymph nodes and recommend chemo. I am so scared of the chemo and all the side effects I have read about. I really thought I would get the same result as the endometrial cancer. Still very sore after surgery. Just confused and very scared.
Hello Shas, pleased to hear that you have finished chemo and you have started dance class again!!!
I started Osimertinib 3 wks ago and seems to be going ok, had a skin rash so they stopped it for 2 days and seems ok since. Have been told that as long as I tolerate it, can be on it for 3 years. Having a CT chest next week, so will be glad to get that done.
Just back from a 4 day break with my son, his wife and kids, to Doolin, Co Clare, so we all really enjoyed the holiday. Weather here becoming wet and wintry. Best wishes!! Rosex
Hi Rose,
Hope you are going well!
It is nearing 5 weeks since my last chemo and my mouth is still really odd, strange salty/sweet taste all the time and salivating a lot. Has your mouth gone back to normal yet?
I have my scan on 29th November with dye, quite anxious about that but have to do it. I have also booked mammogram for 11th November so hope my boob is a lot better then. I suppose you can't expect miracles can you.
I had thought that my mouth would have been better by now. Still walking some and went to dancing again last week.
Keep in touch
Shas
Hello Shas, just back from my CT chest, went fine. My mouth has always been fine, however my sense of taste is still very poor, so hope it returns soon.
Spoke to MacMillan RN today for routine chat and seem to be tolerating new med ok. Remain fatiqued at times, but my haemoglobin remains low and my labwork results are still not enitrely normal. Just takes time.
Out walking most days and got my hair trimmed and coloured yesterday, which gave me a great boost. Think I am slowly recovering from the IV chemo. We will get there!!!Rosex
Hi there Rose,
How are you going? I am recovering from the chemo and have to have a ct scan on Tuesday next. I am quite anxious about that.
I had mammogram and all is ok there. It did hurt where my wound is but managed it.
Not long now until my daughter and grandkids arrive from the UK...can't wait. It has been nearly 3 years since I saw them. We have booked to go to the Gold coast Qld for a week so I am hoping I am well to go.
I started seeing a chiropractor for my lower back and sciatica. I am not sure if it is helping but I have only seen him twice so far so I guess it will take time. He wanted me to sign up to a 4 month plan but I am not keen to do that as yet, although you do save quite a bit of money that way. I have got 3 free visits through a GP management plan so will use those up and see how I go. I really hope he can help me, I have never seen a chiropractor before, just physio.
I still take nerve pain medication but it doesn't seem to be helping with the sciatica which I have had now for about 2 years, before all the cancer stuff.
Well keep well and chat soon
Shas x
Hi Shas please try not to worry about the chemo - I was petrified but to be honest I had very few side effects - no sickness at all! Hopefully you may be the same x
Hi Yorkshiregirl
Where in Yorkshire are you from? My mum was from Hull.....she died the end of 2019 at 98. It was very hard to deal with but I at least now remember the good times we had. I have had an awful year this year with all the cancer stuff but am finished chemotherapy now....hopefully for good. I had my scan yesterday and get results on Friday. Fingers crossed all will be fine. I have my daughter and here two kids coming in December from the UK and we have booked to go to the gold coast so want to be well.
Chemo wasn't much fin but at least I didn't get really sick and didn't lose my hair. I had 4 rounds. Cancer sucks!
Shas x
Hi I’m in Harrogate- I did lose my hair but it’s started growing back now . I had my first scan since the chemo and radiotherapy last Monday but not seeing oncologist fir results until 8 December . Hope you get the result you want, fingers crossed.
Hello Shas,
Lovely to hear from you and delighted to know you will be seeing family very soon. You will be fine and most definately must go to the Gold Coast, even if u are not 100 percent. When we were in Canada, we got away often for a night and the chance to be somewhere other than home and have a swim and eat different food, was soo therapeutic!!!
Glad the mammogram went well, must check when I am due. Had CT in October, so I still have some nodules, but they do not appear cancerous, Consultant just phoned and said she was happy with it, but I missed the call and she just left a message and so I rang in and asked to see her next with my monthly check, as sometimes u do not see the Consultant and sometimes it is a Pharmacist is a Nurse Presciber. So see her Friday.Things slightly different to Canada, as I always had a monthly call from from an Oncologist, but maybe they are happy with me, so that's probably it.
Otherwise all good, enjoying my regular woodland walks and volunteered on 2 days planting bulbs in Hillsborough House, a Royal palace in N.Ireland. Have put my name down also for tree planting locally. Seeing allot of grandchildren in Ireland and flying over to Edinburgh to see my other son there and grandchild there, next week. Great to chat!! Rosex
Hello Mary, glad to hear that your surgery went well. Yes I had the surgery in February, then IV Chemo from May till July. I started oral daily Osimertinib in September for a eGfr mutation that I have and expect to take this for 3 years.
It has been a difficult year and at times during the Chemo I struggled with side effects however with the support of MacMillan and multiple health staff I am over the worst and relieved that I did get through it, as I am so enjoying daily life again and seeing family.
Rose
