Hi i was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and lung cancer within 2 weeks of each other. Fast forward I have now had hysterectomy for endometrial cancer and all good with no more treatment recommended. Had lobectomy for lung cancer 3 weeks ago and now they say it is in lymph nodes and recommend chemo. I am so scared of the chemo and all the side effects I have read about. I really thought I would get the same result as the endometrial cancer. Still very sore after surgery. Just confused and very scared.

  • Hi there Rose,

Good news for me for a change. No cancer showed up on scan. I have a nodule in the right lung but it is very small and doesn't look suspicious apparently. I will have to have scans every six months and a smear for the endometrial cancer I had in January, but for now all is good.

My bloods are all back to normal and if it wasn 't  for my sciatica  I would be great. I am so appreciative of the medical professionals that have treated me. I feel very lucky that I live in a country that provides great treatment to everyone regardless of whether they have private health insurance or not.

Looking forward to Christmas and my birthday on the 9th December - a lovely early birthday and Chirstmas present for me. Thank you for the chats and good luck and keep in touch  Merry Christmas x

  • Best wishes to you also. Take care!!

  • Hi there,

Long time no talk. Well I have had my holiday with my daughter, husband and grandkids. We went to the Gold coast and it was lovely, not too hot and not too cold. I was worried I wouldn't be able to keep up but i managed ok with pain killers for my back.

Christmas was hectic with them all here but lovely to witness the kids opening their presents on
Christmas morning, I will cherish my time with them as I don't know when I will see them again. My daughter wants me to visit her in their summer but it is not that easy, I have a husband and a dog and my mother in law is not all that good at 91.

I had my smear last week and they said it will take a couple of weeks for results, hoping all is ok in that department. Considering whether to get a steroid injection in spine again as it is not getting better even though I have upped my medication as GP recommended. So many people in my family seem to have bad backs at the moment. I see GP on the 30th.  I have to have 2 fillings tomorrow so not looking forward to that.

Would love to hear how you are going.

  • Sorry for the confusion - I was reading these posts as I am having lung surgery in a weeks time and was looking at other people's experiences. of the surgery and what to expect.  I pressed the moderator button in error which someone else had done and  I  replied saying I had done the same. Hope that makes  sense and hope that you are keeping well.

    Kind regards

  • Hi Pepper,

I had lung surgery last year for nsc lung cancer. They took the top left lobe.

Was a big operation for me and found recovery slow. I went with the epidurall for pain relief but found it not enough so had to have the button you press as well with I think it was oxycontin. I was in hospital about 10 days altogether. I am feeling quite good now but still have some soreness and itchiness in left boob. I still get a little out of breath as well but am improving over time. I also had 3 months of chemotherapy.

  • Thanks for the info Shas. Glad that you are now feeling a lot better although it sounds like it has been a long process for you.

I have my op in a couple of weeks to remove a third of my lung and although I am very nervous I just want it over with now. I'm hoping they can keep the pain under control as that is what I am dreading the most. I'm hoping not to have to make the hard decision on chemo afterwards as I would, , like you,  find it a very difficult decision to make. Anyway one step at a time and I will have to cross that bridge if and when it comes to it.

Best wishes for your continued recovery.

  • Hello Shas,

Lovely to hear from you and glad that Christmas and your family's visit and holiday went so well. It is good therapy, I agree. Honestly, I would not rule out a trip at some stage to see your daughter, but at a time that works for you, I agree.

Hope that you get some relief from the back pain, I suffered from it some years ago and the only thing that worked for me was physio, it did take afew months but the exercises worked in the end.

Had a good Christmas but got the flu just after. Consultant started me on Tamiflu med for 2 weeks, as infection hit me hard and was back to having vomiting and dirrhoea again.

Remain on Osimeritinib for the egfr mutation that I have and will be on for another 2.5 years. Suffer allot of fatique and sore hands and feet, at times with it. So I  have good weeks and then not, but hopefully side effects will settle eventually.

I feel well supported with the Macmillan helpline at the hospital I attend and if I have concern, they are kind and very helpful, which I am so grateful for .

Thanks for getting in touch, lovely to hear from you!! Rosex

  • Hi there Rose,

I hope you are well.. I don't have any more news on the cancer which is good. I have to have another scan in June so hope it is all good. I had cortisone injection in my spine 3 weeks ago and although the pain seems a bit better, the pins and needles in the foot are not. I hope with time it continues to improve. I am doing all the excercises the physio gave me.

The weather here is getting colder now, we didn't really have much summer, not looking forward to winter. I have gone back to my dancing but not as much as i used to do. I do get out of breath and my back is not wonderful. Oh well I can only try. I hope you are doing well and going for your walks with your weather probably improving now. Keep in touch won't you.
