  • Hi Walter

How are you doing these days hope you are keeping well. Just to let you know I had my 1st scan after radiotherapy and the mass has shrunk. The oncologist didn't have the full report just thhe scan so waiting to see what happens next. If you remember I have both NSCLC and SCLC I'm hoping they are stabilising the SCLC because I know there's no cure for it. I'm still thinking about you because your mail touched my heart, keep in touch. Love Jean xx

  • Hi

Nice to hear from you hope you are keeping well and living life to the full. If you read Walters mail it will let you know where I stand at present with treatment etc. Love Jean xx

  • Hi Muffin break, I to was diagnosed in February 2021 with nsclc stage 3 advanced. Spent since April 2019 getting numerous xrays and a couple of endoscopies for good luck nothing showed up except oesephagitis which was treated with omeprazole 40mg twice a day and bottles of peptac 1 a week. Sysmptom got worse more tablets got to,d to heighten bed.in total I spoke to 11 different Drs at my medical practice-this all went on until December 2020 when food started to get stuck phoned dr who said drink fizzy juice that will help. New Year’s Day admitted to hospital as food wouldnt budge, Consultant sent me for barium swallow, nothing showed up, ordered a ct scan, lung cancer  on left hand side which had spread to lymphnodes in center of chest which were pressing a against oesophegus .. 4 weeks later started 3 cycles of chemo and 30 sessions of radiotherapy found out I was a candidate for immunotherapy infinzi feeling crap with side effects,  I get angry and very down thinking about it, you wake up thinking about it and go to sleep , well try to sleep thinking about what if the had only done this or that. Got Ct scan last week, get results on Tuesday at meeting with oncologist wish me luck

  • Hiya sounds like you have been through the mill. Yes when I got diagnosed with stage 4 incurable cancer my World fell apart and I just couldn't believe it as I am fit 68 year old, I still played football and exercise so it didn't sound real. Then when it did kick in I couldn't stop crying Cry. But I have an amazing wife and friends who have help me through this dark side. I'm back playing football and I know that one day it will take me but I'm living and loving my life. Stay positive it helps. Hope you get on OK and you get good results from your scan on Tuesday

  • I’ve been offered a targeted drug treatment specific to my particular cancer following successful upper right lung lobectomy Osimertinib one tablet daily for three years. Told it’s the most effective treatment for me. Is anyone else on this drug??

  • I have just been started on that drug, or rather, I will be next week

Three-year seems a long time so I am hoping the side-effects are not too bad. I have that same EGFR to, which makes it apparently direct drug for that type of cancer?

  • Hiya sorry to hear your bad news. But the good news is that I've been on Osimertinib now for nearly 2 years this August and this marvellous drug shrunk my tumer and is keeping my C at bay I'm playing walking football well it's supposed to be walking but we still think we are 21 ha ha. Seriously when I got diagnosed with this my world fell apart I couldn't except it. As you know it's not just you it effects its affects all your close family. My wife has been fantastic as she is staying strong for me. The side affects I have suffered are rash on my face which lasted a few days diarrhea which lasted only the 1st couple of weeks then settled down now okay. Sore nail but only on 1 toe. All the side affects are treatable. Please don't sit around and wait for side affects to happen as you might not get any or if you do they will be very light. I treat my tablet as my friend and every morning I say come on do your job and up to now it is doing its job. I'm leading a great life playing football going on holiday and doing what I was before I got this C. Stay positive live you life and enjoy this tablet is a blessing. Don't get me wrong I still have bad days but my wife and family helps me through them. Good luck and stay positive. Rob
