Hi I'm new on here I found out before Christmas last year after a scan for something else, that I had lung cancer I went in for surgery in February,  Which went very well  I was told that everything looks good but they would like me to have a few chemo's to make sure that everything had gone I have thought about this and think it's the wright  thing  to do although I feel nervous I hope to start it in a couple of weeks my family have been very good taking me to hospital visits  and doing shopping for me because I couldn't drive for 6 weeks which is up next weekend .

Now they want me to get lifts of other people like hospital help etc to go to my chemo's because  of other commitment's they have I have been very upset over this AS I have done lots of things for them over the years and this is the first time that  I have been ill and have had to rely on them.

I just wondering if I will be able to drive myself home after the chemo

 Disappointed

  • Hello

I was advised to get a lift for the first one, just to see how i felt etc. I was fine, so drove myself for the remainder of the cycle.

    Hollsmolls

Hi ask for hospital transport if you dont feel comfortable driving hope your treatment goes well take care x

  • I was not told that driving after chemo would be a problem and it wasn't for me. I drove myself 25 miles each way to the hospital throughout my 4 cycles (total of 8 treatment visits plus a one consultant and one nurse/blood test visit in between each cycle).

As others have said however, if you're apprehensive at all it might be best to arrange transport for at least your first treatment visit to see how it goes.

I hope your treatment goes well. I'm six and a half years past completion of chemo after surgery so the outlook is good.

Made in 1956. Tested to destruction.
