Hi, this is my first posting but have been a casual reader of the lung cancer forum since 2016. I now want to share my experiences especially after seeing the recent Macmillan postings on Facebook about going to the doctors about something unusual, in this case clubbed fingers. The outcome after tests, scans etc was a cancer diagnosis and hence the importance of going to the doctors when you are concerned. I was one of those cases.
I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer (NSCLC - adrenocarcinoma) in September 2016, following a visit to the opticians two months earlier as something didn't seem quite right. I had no cough, no shortness of breath, and I am fortunate that this is still the case. I have given details of treatment (operation to remove a secondary tumour, radiotherapy, chemotherapy (cysplatin and permatrexed), Afatinib and Osimertinib), side effects and timescales are in my profile for those who are interested.
Hoping that this and any other posts I make may help someone.

Still Smiling
Hi Agnieska and a very warm welcome to the group. Thank you for coming along to share your journey, and for taking the time to fill in the details on your profile page. It is extremely helpful especially for newly diagnosed people, to read about other peoples experiences.
I was just like you, no signs of any lung cancer, I wasn't breathless, or cough, until the tumour broke through the lung into the bronchial airway. Looking back, although that was extremely stressful, I am lucky it happened that way, as my oncoligist said the tumours would of carried on growing without us knowing anything about it for several years.
I like that on your profile you have said that you are "living with cancer" as that is what I tell people.
It has been very hard to keep the momentom up during covid and the lockdown, but hopefully we will soon be getting back to some normality, well normal for us anyway.
I look forward to speaking to you more in the group.
Take care
