Hello everyone, I am awaiting a biopsy on a tumour that is about 1cm on my left lung which was discovered on a PET scan that I had last week. The reason for the PET scan was for an ongoing problem for almost 2 years for leg cramping & muscle twitching so have been under a neurologist.
I have had breast cancer previously (2016) and mammograms have been fine since the treatment (chemo, surgery & radiotherapy)
The reason I am posting this is I am seeking info about what actually happens at the lung biopsy. I am told it is a CT one. How long does it take and what actually happens. I'd like to hear from anyone who has had a relatively small cancer like this and what their treatment was. The fact I've had cancer before, this is quite worrying...I was hoping 2021 was going to be better than 2020 but this is not getting off to a great start!
Hi Arlenka. Welcome to the group, but sorry you have found yourself here. My lung cancer was diagnosed 5 years after my initial diagnoses of Endometrial stromal sarcoma, so I know how worrying this is for you now.
I haven't had a biopsy myself, but I know several people in the group have had it done, and I'm sure someone will be along soon to tell you of their experience. In the meantime I have put the link to the Macmillan cancer information and support page HERE which explains a lung needle biopsy for you.
Take care
