Since having a combined basal segmentectomy, I can't stop coughing and wondered how long this is likely to last? I know we're all different but have read that this kind of surgery can cause ongoing problems with coughing. Any tips would be much appreciated.
Thanks Hayley, I had my surgery the day before you! I hope you are healing well.
Oh wow wound is healing very sore had my stitches out on Friday and been over doing things but I’m ok thank you. I hope you are doing well and coping ok. Drink plenty off water and support your side when you cough.
keep in touch
How are you doing? Is the cough any better?
Hi, I was just thinking about you yesterday and wondering how you are too? I'm still coughing all the time and there seems to be some fluid on my lung but am keeping in touch with the cancer nurse who thinks it should settle.. hope so! I went a bit downhill in that I got a stomach bug or possibly uti and ended up fainting in my local park and having to be checked out in a&e - think my body couldn't cope with anything else after surgery. I am starting to feel better than I have been but am definitely having to do less that I was and to take convalescing seriously. How are things going with you, are you starting to recover? Thanks so much for making contact again, it's nice to know someone at exactly the same point of recovery. Whereabouts in the country are you? I'm in Canterbury. Take care
Hi same here another uti and runny nose, cough and eyes watering! My main problem is the chronic pain in my back and felt down this week with it all.
also very tired
today I decided to try and push open the air sacs and walk up a steep hill or two. God it was an effort and struggle but I did it and the more I can try the better mentally I will feel.
im in Somerset.
lets just keep going and kicking butt
Well done for keeping going, it's really not easy! Your back pain sounds awful, I wonder if that's the internal wounds still healing or maybe all the coughing. I keep worrying about breaking a rib because of coughing so much. Interesting we both had UTIs, maybe that's a post surgery thing.. You have inspired me to try a hill if I can find the energy. I hope today is a good day for us both!
Hi how are you this week. It’s been horrible weather here. When do you see your consultant?
Hi, I'm feeling better in terms of my cough which is a big relief, still there but much less. So, other than still feeling tired, I'm doing ok - just have to not overdo it. I've already seen my surgeon and don't need anymore treatment. How about you, how is the pain in your back?
Still bad but going to sleep on sofa tonight as a bit more support. I see surgeon next week 12th, so fingers crossed.
so happy that you require no further treatment you must be chuffed
