I am finding the immense fatigue from chemo/immunotherapy treatment so hard to deal with. I’m used to being very active and really struggling to deal with this.
Any thoughts please
I started a round of immumaphy and chemotherapy last week .i found the first 3daus were the worst.my legs were like lead but after day 3o was ok i do find myself nodding off now and again but apart from that been ok
That’s good news Lynne, nodding off is ok!
possibly because I started the treatment in June its cumulative
Thanks for responding
Do you find each treatment is harder to cope with .., you just need to do what you can and leave the rest till tomorrow .
Hi WsMSH I am sorry you are struggling with fatigue. It’s horrid isn’t it. My dad has a rare blood cancer and is on chemo tablets. He finds the fatigue the hardest part. Never one to sleep during the day, not even a 10 minute power nap, he is finding he is having to take himself off to bed for a couple of hours in the afternoon. It took him a long time to accept that this is ok!
I take it you have had your bloods checked as you are on treatment. Always wise to get your iron checked if not just to make sure all is ok there. But the fatigue is your bodies way of telling you it needs to recuperate, and trying to fight it just makes you more tired. I know how hard this is though, I remember when I had my radiation and I was so tired, it made me feel like I was walking through water, just so hard to do anything. Do speak to your medical team about this, see if there is anything they can do to help.
Hi
Thank you for your helpful reply,; yes bloods are checked regularly and I have iron tablets.
i hooe you are doing ok, or as besy as you are able.
On chemo/immunotherapy plus some targeted drug treatment. Four in all so four lots of side effects. Just had the last cycle on Friday so just the other two going forward.
Fatigue was crippling on the second cycle to the extent could barely get out bed for four days. That with other side effects briefly considered not going through it again. Ultimately it’s not pleasant but just got to get head down and get through it and hope it works. The oncologist reduced the chemo dose for the third and this last cycle to reduce side effects given how I felt and I was much better on the last one. Hopefully be same this time around. Got tired for a few days but not fatigued. Maybe worth speaking to your consultant to see if a dose reduction is possible that doesn’t reduce efficacy.
