My partner has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer that has spred from his neck , he starts immunotherapy in 3 weeks time

my question is has anyone else been diagnosed with terminal cancer that was first found in another area but given the all clear from the primary site and have proved the doctors wrong

he was told 12 months

  • Hi,

I am sorry to hear about your partner. I have no experience of this stage of cancer because I was diagnosed with primary lung cancer stage 1, but I am sure somebody who has will answer your question and give advice.

  • Any help really would be appreciated please xxx

  • Hi  I am sorry to hear about your partners diagnoses. Although I cannot directly answer your question, what I can say is that Lung cancer treatment has certainly come a long way in recent years. People are living much longer lives with the disease than ever before. Especially with treatments like immunotherapy. Years ago lung cancer was very much a terminal diagnoses, that terminology has changed now to incurable but treatable. As long as there is treatment there is always hope.

  • Hi Mushroom117, I was diagnosed with layngeal cancer last year and a subsequent scan showed a second primary cancer (T3N2M0) in the lung. I am also now doing immunotherapy and stable. You say the lung cancer spread from the neck? Are there mets in the lung or is it an independent cancer?

Anyway, the oncologist has given me no specific prognosis other than incurable but well treatable. I often wonder why doctors do it as there are loads of people on here who have outlived their prognosis by years! I wish your partner all the best with the treatment and come back for support whenever you need it.
