I just wanted to share my story and hopefully give some hope to others, After months of indecision, I opted for surgery over radiotherapy and had a left pneumonectomy on the 31st Jan, I was terrified, although the hospital and my surgeon were wonderful, before surgery I had 3 cycles of neo adjuvant chemo to catch any stray cells, it left my white blood count very low (3.4) so I ended up staying in hospital for 9 day, I spent one night in ITU and the following few days not feeling my best, since coming home I’ve had my low points, but on the whole it is doable and each day I’m feeling better, getting stronger and walking further, although I do have days where I’m so tired, I sleep a lot, but that is slowly getting less, prior to surgery I had really worked myself up with the what ifs, but the reality has been so much better than I could of imagined
Hello Solo19,
Well done. I had a right pneumonectomy and adjuvant chemotherapy in 2014 and have been lung cancer free since. I sincerely hope you follow a similar path.
You should find that after effects improve with time as mine did.
Derek.
