Bitter sweet  … chemo and immunotherapy  has finished  . Slightly shrunk my lung tumour. .  To then be hospitalised after becoming very poorly.  Immunotherapy did its job to kill cancer cells  but then began to attack my good organs.  I’m no longer being able to produce hormones.  For my adrenal glands  as my pituitary gland has been attacked in my head .  I’m now having to be on injection and steroids every day  for the rest of my life . Swapping one life threatening condition  for another. Also date give for my lung removal surgery next Friday . Friday 13th of September.  So hope the dates not a bad omen. Struggling with my emotions tremendously.  Desperately trying to look forward  with my life. But unfortunately can’t see past Friday . I’m not ready to go yet .

  • Hi Surendipity. I'm not sure there is anything anyone on here can say to really help you. But we all feel for you. You've been dealt a rotten hand and have every excuse to be emotional.

The only thing I can suggest is just to concentrate on one step at a time. I'm not sure what stage you are at. Is it a lobectomy? Full lung removal?  Either way if you are having surgery then the doctors must feel there is a chance of a cure. That's a very big positive. Just concentrate on getting through the op. I had a lobectomy a year ago and am, so far, doing really well. Just think that if you can knock the cancer on the head then the daily steroid injections etc will be a proper pain in the rear ... but so much better than the alternative!

Wishing you the very best of luck for Friday (in the country where I live TUESDAY the 13th is the unlucky day so i wouldn't stress about it).  Look after yourself and keep strong.
