Hi everyone this Thursday I’ve got an appointment for a ct sc scan with contrast the problem is I don’t know what to do as last week I was so poorly I had a dreadful rash on my arm I went to my doctors and she said it’s shingles this is the 3rd time I’ve had shingles my doctor says it’s because my immune system is low due to lung cancer and treatment I had even though it’s in remission since December now and I don’t know what I should do? I want my scan because I need to make sure my lung cancer is still in remission but because I was diagnosed last Wednesday with shingles I don’t know what I should do please help, thanks everyone love Yvonne xx
Hi Yvonne , not too sure what to do , best thing would be , I think would be best to contact your "lung nurse " and ask her what you should do re going for your scan at appointed time or getting it put back , I know getting it put back is not ideal as you want your scan so that you can see if it's still in remission , but if your shingles hasn't cleared up enough for you to get scan then you might need to get a new appointment , what did your gp advise ? .
Sorry not been much help , hope you get it sorted soon , hopefully you will get your scan soon .
Take care x
Hi I’ve just phoned and spoken to my McMillan nurse explained everything what my gp said last Wednesday and Jackie my McMillan nurse says just cover up your arm in case you catch or knock it, and it’s not contagious now because it’s all dry even though the rash is still there and to go for my scans and appointment to see my consultant, so I’m pleased I’ve spoken to my McMillan nurse and I’m pleased I can go for my scans on Thursday, thank you so much for reaching out to me. Yvonne xx
I went for my scan yesterday and they did it they just put the contrast in my right arm and I seen my consultant yesterday she’s lovely she’s put me on a course of steroids because my copd and emphysema is so bad at the moment I think it’s with getting shingles and she says my immune system is not good she’s going to contact me when she gets my results. Try and enjoy your weekend everyone best wishes always Yvonne xx
Thanks so much for your reply yeah I had my scan and my doctor started me on steroids and I have started taking my rescue pack of Antibiotics Amoxicillin, you’re so right about copd and emphysema should be more than enough to cope with but no lung cancer has to come along and gate crash our party . I’m so pleased you’re scan results are good I’ll let you know what mine are when I get them take good care and keep up you’re good work best wishes always Yvonne xx
