  • Hi Chris, not sure where your sister lives but it may be that she couple be seen by a Special Care Dental Service which are based in community. Will depend if there is one in her area. They’re often referral based but she can be referred by GP or any Health Professional. There is different criteria depending on area but in our service we do see patients who are medically compromised. If she is in pain then the Maxillo Facial team  within a hospital will often see a patient if the oncology team ask. Hope this helps.

  • Hi Chris1974

Sorry to hear that your sister has dental issues. I’ve had plenty and the pain is unbearable.

Now I asked my NHS dentist if I would be helped out if I had chemo and it’s. ”No” I pay for my treatment but I think it’s a reduced cost

So if it were me I would go to my town dental hospital, the treatment is free as it’s NHS funded but it doesn’t cover anything cosmetic. So they will elevate pain but not fix crowns etc.

Im not sure if you live near a large town. I’m close to Bristol which has an Eye , Dental and Infirmary all connected within the city

I hope that you can find a dental hospital  it will be trainee’s but they’ll be fresh and mentored

Otherwise it’s going to be private, phoning around all the local for spaces may be a way to go

Good luck, I hope that your sister is not in too much pain

    Ann
