My son is only 32, just had his broncoscopy this morning. He’s just coughed a small amount of blood, he’s quite sore and said it was a horrible experience. We’ve to now wait until the 28th for the results for his lung cancer. I’m up and down, one minute in floods of tears then positive. I have a great work family who are very supportive. It’s not knowing what’s going to happen and it’s quite frightening. My son is quite numb with it all.
Hi ShirlandLeights I am sorry to hear about your son. The post you have replied to is very old, and the members in the thread are no longer on the site. I will ask admin to post your comment in a new thread for you so it doesn't get missed in the group.
Hi
So very sorry that you have cause to be on here.
Coughing up small amounts of blood following a bronchoscopy is very common and is not a cause for concern. Any soreness will disappear within a few days.
It is not a pleasant procedure; however it is a very necessary one and will go a long way in determining his future treatment plan. Emotions do tend to calm down once the nature of any cancer and the treatment plan is discussed.
Hope this helps a bit.
Kegsy x
Thanks for your help. It’s calmed down now. He’s booked in for another test tomorrow as something has shown up on his stomach. They have now brought his review forward to Tuesday next week so hopefully we’ll have an idea of treatment or something. It’s the not knowing where it all leads to going forward. I’m so worried and frightened
