What were your first symptoms? And has xray such a high default rate showing tumors?

Sorry for opening this new thread.

If it's not OK then I can delete it again.

But I am a bit lost. Since my appointment with the lung specialist last week and xray I read a lot in this forum and tried to figure out the main symptoms of lung cancer and also read too often that an x-ray is not enough to be sure if there is a tumor.

My problem is that I am allergic against the CT contrast.

So no idea if to take a CT without contrast or just go on with my few symptoms (pain in the fingers and sometimes chest pain and a bit breathlessness inspite of very good lung function test)

  • I read today that small cell lung cancer makes because of hormones nausea and pain in hands and feets. Is this right?

  • Please anyone here can help me?

Is it possible that I have small cell lung cancer symptoms with pain in finger and hands and nausea? The paraneoplastic Syndromes of sclc?

I am a bit in panic because small cell lung cancer is terminal no matter in what stage.

Please tell me your opinions and advice.

  • Hello Hih, I can see you are anxious over some symptoms you are experiencing.
A good lung function test, and a clear X-ray is a very good sign.

What are your health professionals advising now? We are all lung cancer patients here, or caring for a loved one with lung cancer, so we cannot give you any medical advice. There is an Ask a Nurse page though where can you can ask your question and get help from a medical professional.

You can also speak to someone at the Macmillan support help line. Call 0808 808 00 00. They are available 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm.

  • Till now they advise nothing. My GP dais nothing and my lung specialist doc said everything looks fine.

But I searched the internet and found that sclc is making strange symptoms and that is when my panic went through the roof.

I did not ask the lung specialist about my worries and about the strange symptoms which could be because of paraneoplastic Syndromes of sclc.

I have to call tomorrow the lung specialist doc and hope he will answer my call.

I am just complete in maximum fear and panic. Because I read that sclc is always terminal.

  • Have you been told you have paraneoplastic syndrome ? X

  • No not yet.

I want to ask my lung specialist doc, if I have some.

I fear I have some. Because I have finger pain and a bit of nausea.

  • My reply to you is only with the very best intentions.

The best thing you can do for yourself, is stop googling. You have to have faith in the health care professionals. Nausea can be caused by all the anxiety you are experiencing by googling symptoms. I have lung cancer……I have never had finger pain, and I expect most other people here in the group would tell you the same.

You have a clear X-ray and good lung function test. I would love to see that as my results, but alas I will not as I do have lung cancer. Also my last Ct was without contrast, so please stop driving yourself mad with worry or you will end up ill.

I hope you get to the bottom of your worries, but please listen to your doctors, and not doctor google.

  • Hello Hih,

It looks very much like you have been reading an awful lot about cancer symptoms on Google and got yourself all worked up. I notice on another group you think you have cancer in the brain and have actually had an mri scan with contrast to look at that.it’s definately time to speak to a doctor other than dr Google and explain all your symptoms to them exactly as you have here, once you have told them every symptom you have they can decide how best to help you but they do need to know all your symptoms

    Wishing you well

  • Many thanks for your answer!

Yes I read too much on Google but I also read a lot on this forum to get information about lung cancer. Need to ask my lung specialist doc about my strange symptoms like finger pain. Because I also read about finger clubbing being a sign of sclc.

No idea if the process of finger clubbing is painful. I really hope the doc calls back so i can ask him about my symptoms.

  • Thx for your answer.

Yes I am waiting for the lung specialist doc to ask him about the symptoms.

I am just in worry of having especially sclc since sclc can easily be overlooked on the xray and since I have this strange "other" symptoms.

I did not know before yesterday sclc makes strange symptoms and is one of worst aggressive cancers.
