Hi everyone

Thought I’d pop an update up, also gives me the chance to get it off my mind. After a long 8 hour wait in the hospital yesterday I finally had the EBUS. Because I was having it under GA I hadn’t eaten since the night before so all I did in those 8 hours was think about food, which was a nice distraction from my usual thoughts. So the EBUS itself seemed to go well but when I woke up from the GA I had lost my voice completely! It was a bit of a shock when I went to speak and nothing came out Sweat smile

Has anyone else experienced this? I was in a little discomfort after the procedure as you would expect but this morning I’ve woken up with the most unbearable chest pain, severe wheezing and pain on swallowing and deep breathes. Is this normal what were your EBUS experiences?

Hopefully I’ll be fine in a few days but for now even breathing hurts

Mx

  • I’m sorry to hear that love , I had my EBUS under conscious sedation … yes I was croaky immediately afterwards but it passed . The following couple of days I had a sore throat and a productive wheezy cough too which took a few days to settle …I had no chest pain at all …..  I would honestly telephone 111 to check out your symptoms with them , they may send you down to get an X-ray make sure all is ok ….. • Hi M,

Sorry to read about your ebus experience, I actually had 2 prior to my eventual surgery, both under sedation and neither left any effects to speak of.

I think you should seek "proper" advice.

    Good Luck.

    Dave.

  • Hi M i had my EBUS under sedation awke throughout and had no issues at all  i guess i was lucky, but i also  had a portacath fitted under local anesthetic so we are all different.

Gooe you feel good soon .

    All the best

    Darren

Hi Elly, seems like it was a chest infection. Doctors has no prescribed stronger painkiller and antibiotics. They seem to be doing the job and making things better. I’m now able to eat too which of course makes a big difference. Just a tough few days but only better from here x

Hi Dave, thank you for your kind words. Doctor thinks I’ve got a chest infection hence all the symptoms, antibiotics seem to be doing the trick.
    Hope you’re keeping well x

You sound incredibly brave Darren, I don’t think I’d have the guts to do that under local only because you’d be able to see what’s going on.
Best of luck with your journey, wishing you all the best x

  • Glad you’re ok love Two hearts
