Hi all

25 months after finishing pembro I have new growth. Onc has recommended 4-6 cycles of docetaxel to start on 16th April.

I’m a little apprehensive regarding the side effects but my onc seems to think I can tolerate it and it gives me the best chance of kicking this tumour into touch.

So I’ll grin and bear it for as long as I can and continue to trust the doctors.  They haven’t let me down so far. I’m now 8 years out from my original terminal diagnosis with a 12-18 month prognosis.

    Hi Free12

No, it will be docetaxel only.

How did it go for you?  Did it zap the tumours and how were the side effects?

It was ok the side effects was not to bad I will not lie to you I lost my hair all my hair everywhere I was on Nintedanit too so it was hard to say which one coursed my hair loss. The docetaxel worked but the tablets didn’t but I have stage 3 lung cancer and it was my second round of treatment of a different chemo

     thanks

    Thanks Free12.

yes I’ve been warned I will lose every bit of hair.  In 2013 I had gemcarbo with minimal side effects.  I think docetaxel with be a whole new ball game.

Did you use anything specific to help with side effects, any particular moisturiser etc?

    Thanks

    Hi Mummyb

i use Skin Therapy spa that my friend gets me, if you do loose your hair you can get a wig, I got one which is great just make sure you moisturise every day as your skin gets very dry, I did not cream for one day and I looked like a snake shedding it’s skin which my husband thought it was funny Stuck out tongue winking eye which he paid for dearly xx

    Thanks Free12

I’ll be sure to get plenty of moisturiser in before the treatment starts.

Im not sure I fancy a wig.  I’m a bit more concerned over the eyelashes plus the side effects mentioned regarding eyes.  I’ve just been diagnosed with rosacea of the eye which causes me some problems.  I’ve just started treatment and need to check if I can continue with it. The eye consultant thinks it was caused by chemo.

  • Hi mummyb

I have followed all your updates as I have been on pembrolazumab, on watch and wait now for the last 6 months.

Im sorry to hear you have new growth but I’ll hold on to the fact that you’ve been ok for 25 months after finishing Pembrolazumab

Ill follow you on your next treatment now as I know if anything goes wrong there is something else, which I think is chemo - my worst nightmare.

I wish you well with your new treatment and hope it is kind to you

    Take care

    Thanks Julie,

Ill keep updating my profile, but I’ll also post my experience on here.

So glad the pembro worked for you.  It’s such a shame we can never go back on it. Hope you manage to get regular scans.  My onc kept trying to move me to 6 monthly scans but I insisted on 3 monthly.
