Hi All.

I have NSC lung cancer stage 4. I have recently been through a trial which worked but had to stop due to secondaries turning up.inmy liver.  Hey ho.

I have been gettimg regular night sweats hourly during the night. I am on Levothyroxine. Traxadone. Steroids. Lanzaprozole.

Does anyone have any advice on how to cope with this.

  • Hi Ellie, I'm sorry to hear that the trial was unsuccessful.  I hope they come up with a different one for you in the New Year.

These night sweats are unbearable. You get such a disturbed nights sleep, you never feel good the next day, they are so draining. I get night sweats, well actually I am having constant hot flushes because of my hormone treatment. They do feel worse at night though, as soon as my head hits that pillow. Its a constant battle with the quilt, on/off all night. Some tips that I have found that do help me. Don't have a hot drink or bath before bed. My last hot drink is about 6pm.  Don't drink alcohol. Put a flat sheet under your quilt, and sleep under that so when the quilt comes off you still have a cover on you. I sleep with a fan next to my bed. I also have a cold mat, that I use more in the summer than at the moment, but they are very good. You put them in the fridge, then you lay on it at night. I also have a cold eye mask, again you put that in the fridge to cool it. Make sure your bedroom is cool. No heating in there, and a window open.  I am lucky, I have a very understanding family. I hardly ever have the heating on, they just put on extra jumpers.
