Hello All
I thought about setting up a thread for us all to use to chat about various stuff across, so it's all in one place and newer members posts not getting pushed down and off the discussion front page before getting an answer.
I hope you are all doing well and not too stuffed on easter eggs?
I have not eaten mine yet! I went to bed friday night not feeling well and woke up Saturday with a horrid migraine throwing my guts up usually I fall asleep and sleep it off. Not so, I ended up going to the OOH doctor Sunday afternoon as was still throwing up
He gave me some lotions and potions and still not right yet. Though haven't thrown up for a few hours now. I going to try and eat something soon (not easter eggys) to see if I can manage that and see if it makes me feel better. I hate being ill! Especially on a bank holiday weekend with such nice weather. I was so looking forward to it and I have slept most of it away.
My wife had the same problem when she first had to have a full scan (not cancer related) and had to have a sedative. This seemed to work for her, but I can empathise with you. As a "big boy" at 6ft 3in and 19 stone I just fit inside them myself, and always worry that my rather prominent nose will scrape on the walls of the scanner.
ironically, when I moved back to England from Scotland I was actually going to work for a company called Oxford Instruments, near Abingdon, making 9GHz MRI scanners!!
Cathy I completely understand how you felt. I’ve not had one, but at the same time I’m scared they will at some point ask me to have one. My claustrophobia has got so bad I can’t even get on a plane anymore.
I think a sedative is a good idea. But also take someone with you.
Don't be disappointed in yourself. I’m sure you are not the first person that this has happened too.
Oh Cathy, you are definitely not a wimp. My OH is the toughest bloke I know but he only managed to walk in the room then I took him home again. He suffers badly from claustrophobia. I have seen open MRI machines but I am thinking they are much more expensive than the standard enclosed one. It's a shame because loads of people have the same reaction to the enclosed ones. Hopefully the sedative will work and having someone with you. Don't be disappointed in yourself.
hi cathy, dont be so hard on yourself. a lot of people find it hard. something from the doctors sounds about right. i used to climb on roofs about 30ft up no bother. had it now feel dizzy looking over any edge. the last one i was in i had a bad back they had 6 goes at getting needle in. had to get someone else. everyone outside waiting wondering what was going on. was in so much pain felt like walking out. would not let me sit up.
had number 21infusion today, all good. some nurses have no issues. not sure but i think another 15 left. soon gone.
Well done Derek. What was for lunch?
thank you chelle. was only soup and sandwiches with icecream so gave it a miss as needed to stay another 30 minutes. Cathy talking about her scan reminded me of my last one. they made you feel like a number coming off a production line.
Yes I guess it can make you feel a bit like that. I’d of waited the extra 30 minutes, especially for ice cream
julie when is your next one ?normally just after me i think.
Hi Darlo
yes im a week after you, my next one is next Friday, I was just trying to work out how you are on number 21, I thought I was only a couple behind you on that as well, I’ll have to check next week
