Hello All
I thought about setting up a thread for us all to use to chat about various stuff across, so it's all in one place and newer members posts not getting pushed down and off the discussion front page before getting an answer.
I hope you are all doing well and not too stuffed on easter eggs?
I have not eaten mine yet! I went to bed friday night not feeling well and woke up Saturday with a horrid migraine throwing my guts up usually I fall asleep and sleep it off. Not so, I ended up going to the OOH doctor Sunday afternoon as was still throwing up
He gave me some lotions and potions and still not right yet. Though haven't thrown up for a few hours now. I going to try and eat something soon (not easter eggys) to see if I can manage that and see if it makes me feel better. I hate being ill! Especially on a bank holiday weekend with such nice weather. I was so looking forward to it and I have slept most of it away.
Hi john Boy2,
since I was diagnosed I have always slept 2 hrs at a time, but strangely I am never tired during the day, it’s gone on so long now I suppose it is now normal. Sorry to hear about your wife’s predicament, visiting hospital after work is hard going, I did it myself when my poor dad was in hospital.
I have cramp in my feet and sometimes it goes to my calf’s but I’ve had that for as long as I can remember, I have to put my feet lying sideways as the weight of the duvet starts it off usually, then it’s a mad panic to stop it before it reaches my calf’s, thinking about it maybe it was an underlying problem I always put mine down to poor circulation to be honest cos I’m one of those people who feel the cold easy and have numb white fingers and toes when it’s cold, but if it’s something new for you maybe you should mention it. It probably doesn’t help your sleep cos you’ve no time to wind down.
You might be right about the circulation Julie, I’ve just googled it (I know we shouldn’t, google) and it says to try and keep hydrated but also a warm bath might help to ease the cramp.
Wish I didn’t feel so tired, all the time. I normally have to have ten minutes shut eye in the afternoons. It must be nearly that time now.
hi chelle. re the amitriptyline wife says couldn't stay awake on afternoon when on them was on 25 doctor cut to 10
Hi glad to know I'm not the only one with sleep problems ,I look out of my window sometime in the middle of the night , and I must be the only one up , I was never a good sleeper before treatment ,but now terrible, I to sometimes take co codamol Derek when I'm a bit achy, Also Chelle , I was given amitriptyline for nerve pain, that has now gone, so I'm coming of that slowly didn't really help with sleep unfortunately. just gave me a dry mouth.sometimes I think you have to adapt to these things could be worse. Julie hope you will find the strength to walk down that corridor. Good luck to everyone have treatment . Ellen X
Darlo, I’m only on 10mg of amitriptlyne. My hormone treatment also makes me tired, and gives me awful headaches, which is why I was put on the Amitriptlyne.
Ellen it’s terrible when you can’t sleep. I did have a long period of time when I would fall asleep quite quickly, but would wake 2 hours later, every night! The doctor gave me sleeping tablets and that did work, but it’s easy to get addicted to them. I’m grateful the amitriptlyne is working for me. Antihistamines are also good for making you sleep, and you can get those over the counter x
Hi Chelle, my doctor gave me sleeping pills when I was having chemo, the steroids made it even harder to sleep , they were great at first ,didnt realise they were addictive , don't think doctors are surposed to give more than about a weeks supply , but keeped letting me have them ,then after a while they stopped worked ,so wanted to come off them , that's when my doctor told me I would have to ween myself off them , It was awful took me about 3 months.never again .Ellen X
He really should of told you they were addictive. I would only take them 2 nights in a row then have a few days break.
I’ve just seen there is a documentary on ITV at 9pm called “why we can’t sleep”. Might be interesting.
I know Chelle, I would never have kept taking them had I known how hard it would be to come off them, I should have looked it up.its the same with the amitryptoline was told by my doctor I could just stop taking them ,but if you google the reviews say otherwise.yes I might watch the documentary tonight, might get a few tips
