Hi I have been diagnosed with a 12 mm ground glass opacity. The doctor believes it is most likely Cancer but has recommended we wait 6 months to see if it grows. If it does it is cancer and I guess we will have surgery or chemo. Has anyone else had this problem?
Hi, I didn't have this problem but if I were you, I would seek a second opinion. If the doctor believes it is most likely cancer, I would be wanting it removed, or a biopsy at the minimum. We all know that cancer grows, so to let it hang around and potentially spread over the next 6 months sounds odd. I know that some small nodules can be hard to biopsy, but my understanding was that this is where they are less than 1cm.
Maybe the ground glass aspect changes things, I don't know, but definitely try and get a second opinion from an expert.
Good luck
Rob
I had stage3 prostate cancer 3 years ago- had surgery, radiotherapy and chemo. Lately I was feeling breathless and my cardiologist arranged a CT angiogram which was normal but found 3 cm ground glass opacities in the right lung. Reading the comments here makes me feel nervous in case it is a cancer- what should I do. Cardiologist says it’s not his area. Any suggestions
Hi . I've been diganosed with 2 nodules on my left lung,1 is 11mm &the other is smaller. I'm having another c.t scan in 3 mths time as I've been told its watch&wait which apparently is the normal procedure as I have spoken with my specialist nurse about this. I would suggest you speak to your specialist nurse to get peace of mind. X
Thanks for sharing your experience. Since posting my last message, I’ve spoken to several lung oncologist- all suggested repeat CT followed by biopsy, if positive then radiotherapy or surgery. If negative then surveillance every 6 months. It’s a very difficult time while waiting to know which direction the biopsy results going to take you .
