Hi everyone
Dad had his bronchoscopy yesterday and he's doing ok and thanks to all those that supported me leading up to it. He had to have sedation as they were taking a biopsy and he had quite a bit of bleeding but it calmed quite quickly. Now the wait for the results which of course I now have running through my head that it's probably everywhere! However I'm trying to keep positive and we're due to go to Spain in 6th July (mum and dad too!) for 12 nights which takes us to 18th July. Im not sure what the time scale will be for appointments and treatment yet as he's not properly diagnosed but what people's thoughts on me getting a changed flight. Am I crazy to be even be thinking it? I'm going to call his consultants secretary tomorrow to see what appointment dates we're likely to have as we definitely don't want to delay start of treatment but do want to see if we can make the holiday happen before he starts this horrible journey. I've seen him here before and his prostate treatment, although not cured him, was pretty easy on comparison to what I've been reading in treatment for lung cancer. Just wondered what everyone thought
. Dad wants us to go without him but I really won't be doing that if he's starting treatment.
T️hanks again

Hi Star68 definitely speak to your dad’s oncologist, but you may find the insurance will be the problem. If dad hasn’t had his full diagnoses yet it may be hard to find insurance for the holiday.Travel insurance is never cheap for cancer patients, but worse when on treatment, and some insurance companies not able to give cover. Can I suggest you take a look at the Travel insurance forum for cancer patients
Hi Star
From my own experience, the bronchoscopy was the first of multiple tests ahead of the treatment plan, with many of these arranged at short notice. The tests included;
All these tests despite that I went into this journey to quote one of my Consultants "cancer aside, extremely fit and healthy".
In my humble opinion; yes you are crazy to be even considering this! Why not cancel the holiday and look to re-arrange for when Dad has finished and recovered from the treatment?
Hope this helps.

hi
Kegsy you have ticked all the boxes on the up and coming tests.
Personally, i would never have considered going abroad at that stage. My anxiety was at an all time high. So many things to think of, so many appointments
I think this will add to his stress, with what is in front of him. ( only speaking as to how i felt at that time).
Perhaps save this trip for another time, when its all clear as to the treatment plan.
Take care
Ella
Thanks Chelle
Dad already has prostate so we're used to looking for insurance as a cancer patient and that's why I'm thinking go before he starts as that's where the problem starts. Dad very laid back by it all he just says he's not looking forward to treatment
Hi Kegsy
Dad is already through most of these although he has had a lumber puncture (hoping he won't need it). Had breathing tests, ecg, mris, pet scans etc. he's pretty laid back about it all and I'm also worried how long the treatment will take as I've read it can be a long time
Hi Dito
Thank you - I think it will work for dad - and mum who is more stressed than dad at the moment . I'll wait to hear what next week brings. Dad's 83 next month and so insurance is always an issue with age and already having prostate cancer. Can I ask who you used please? We have been with inureancewith but not sure they'll insure him with 2 cancers
