Hi all, hope everyone well.
I’m 51, diagnosed stage 3c (T3N3M0) nsclc adenocarcinoma in July 2024, started concurrent 4 cycles of Cisplatin and Vinorelbine, and 30 sessions of radiotherapy, managed ok with the side effects, after the initial treatment CT scan in October shows right lung tumour shrinkage from 4cm to 2.4 cm and lymph node from 6cm to 2cm so Durvalumab started in November.
2nd scan in February 2025 showed shrinkage again, lung tumour from 2.4cm to 1.5cm, lymph node from 2cm to 1.7cm.
But the latest scan in May, lymph node is stable also everywhere else is normal, but my lung tumour progressed from 1.5cm to 2.8cm, honestly that’s quite a lot increase in 3months and I’m shocked and couldn’t believe what I heard because although I have this disease, I still feel fit and well, working full-time and walk 6 miles everyday.
Now the oncologist said because is just one area got progress and I’m feeling well, she let me to have 2 more treatments and have another scan in 8 weeks, if everywhere are stable then the treatment will carry on until it’s end, but if the scan shows either or both tumour progress again or met to somewhere else then treatment will stop.
But what worries me is what my next treatment plan will be, I can’t have radiotherapy again because I had concurrent chemo/radiotherapy last year, so the oncologist offered me another chemotherapy Docetaxel/Nintedanib, I have done some search on those drugs and I think it can only help me a little and buy me a very short of time, I wonder is that the final line of treatment they can offer me? If it fail again in a few months, will I be only offering palliative care? Honestly I’m not ready to give up yet and I will fight until the last moment. She also mentioned surgery, but i questioned will that really help as they can only operate my right lung and can’t do the lymph node.
I hope someone can give me some advice, or can I ask the oncologist for another treatment options?
