Hello,
My mum has been diagnosed with stage 4 small cell lung cancer, it has spread to lymph nodes and some bone. She has COPD aswell. She is unsure whether to accept treatment or not....she is yet to see the oncologist and see what is offered. She doesn't want to spend months on treatment if it's only going to give her an extra few months to live. Anyone else had this with a more positive outcome?
Hi Life sucks and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
It sounds like a very difficult time for you and your mum so I can understand you wanting to find others who have been on a similar path.
I'm not a member of this group but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again. While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your mum's diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

So very sorry that you have cause to be on here.
Given her age and other underlying medical issues, her cancer team will only recommend treatment that they feel she would be able to cope with. If any treatment is offered, her cancer team will spell out the pros and cons so that she can make an informed decision.
As with all cancer patients, at the end of the day, it is your Mum's decision whether or not to go ahead with any treatment that may be offered.
I wish you and your Mum the best possible outcomes.
Kegsy x
My mum also has small cell lung cancer and in the lymph nodes, along with COPD. She has been struggling to find anyone in the same position to talk to who can relate. Would your mum be open to contact with her?
