Hi all,

I've been on this journey for 7 weeks now. Diagnosed 7 weeks ago and had biospy, PET SCAN and now await surgery for Lung cancer.

All appointments have been talking through treatment, diagnosis, surgery.

Today I received a letter from the surgeon explaining to my doctor my diagnosis stage 1 adenocarcinoma lung cancer. I've held it together until that letter came, and I can't stop looking at it and crying now

  • Hi Sam

So sorry you received this news by post; this type of news should always be given in a face-to-face  scenario so that questions can be asked and answered. Did you at some point tick a box stating that you wanted to receive copies of any correspondence with you GP. Perhaps you could check this at your next appointment.

The positive news is that the cancer is Stage 1, so has been caught very early.  In addition you already know that your treatment plan is surgery to remove the tumour, so you are well along the cancer journey.

Please stop looking at the letter and try to focus on the practical; e.g  getting yourself ready for the forthcoming operation, treat yourself to some nice new jimjams etc.

I wish you the very best outcomes from your op.

     Kegsy x

  • Thank you for this. It's exactly what I needed.

I haven't signed anything but I seem to get a copy of all the letters the GP gets Shrug
