Hi my partner is 41 and recently diagnosed with lung cancer. After spending 5 weeks in hospital and the past 6 months in constant severe pain, we’d hoped it was a lung abscess but unfortunately not.
what a heartbreaking rollercoaster! Anyway, now he has just had a lobectomy on his right upper lobe and 4 partial removal of ribs.. he’s doing so well right now and hopefully home soon.
the tumor was large (4X8cm) but as far as we know it was contained within that one lump, although I have a feeling the surgeon is feeling it might have spread or maybe I’m just over worrying again!
We've been told that he removed a lot of nodes and has sent a lot for biopsy’s of bones etc but he said it would be 2/3 weeks until results! I’m just exhausted with all this waiting, worrying constantly.. surely if it was so serious the results would be back sooner?
Has anyone any experiences of timeframes? Also in regards to chemo, how long to wait? I’m so scared this is continuing to grow inside him and we’re powerless to it all xx

  • Hi coolio, sorry to hear about your partner. The waiting certainly is not easy! We all know what that is like. But unfortunately 2/3 weeks is normal for biopsy results.
Once those results are back though, they will know what type of cancer it is, if it has spread etc so they can plan the very best treatment for your partner. Then treatment will start very quickly once they have decided the plan. X
