  • Hi Kitty69. I am not surprised you are feeling like this today. It's the unkown of what is ahead.  Having to start chemo is always an anxious time. What I can tell you is, the chemo staff are so supportive, and are so dedicated to their patients. You will probably see the same saff at every session, and you will build up a relationship with them. They will explain everything to you, and you will have a contact number in case you feel unwell at home.  You will be given anti sickness tablets, and will probably feel unwell for a couple of days. You will then have days of feeling well, before the next cycle of treatment.  The medical team will be keeping a very close eye on you as you go through your treament, and your bloods will be checked before each cycle. They can always adjust the chemo at anytime, if you are not taking to it very well.

Good luck at the pre assesment. I think you will feel better once you have gone there and spoken to them tomorrow.

    Take care

    Hi Kitty,

I was the same when my treatment was due (back in Oct last year) I also had radiotherapy with my chemo. I didn't have too many side effects.  Tiredness was definitely one, not helped by travelling every weekday for 6 weeks for the radiotherapy.  A little nausea and sickness towards the end of the cycle (4th month) but as Chelle says, they supply you with tablets for that and it helped. Also, the staff are fantastic, to the point I was actually told off (nicely) for sitting at home worrying when I could have called them for peace of mind, nothing is trivial to them so don't be afraid to ask anything even if you feel like it's a silly question. I did need to phone once as my temperature rose and I went in for a check about 11pm on a Sat night, they kept me in for observation and they didn't want me driving back home that late, so they do look after you really well.

I hope all goes well , let us know how you get on and if you have any questions that I may be able to help with, let me know Slight smile
