Ebus Procedure

Last  Monday an MDT meeting was held with pulmonary team, who viewed the scans of my right lung and the nodules near my heart.. I received a telephone call Monday afternoon with an appointment for the following day Tuesday. To cut a long story short I was told that there had been a change in my right lung and that the glands deep in my chest had changed and enlarged.  I was stunned, because I thought the problems was with the lymph nodes.

The consultant/surgeon has arranged for me to have an Ebus procedure this Wednesday to take biopsies from my lung and glands. I was told that it was that they couldn't  rule out Cancer, neither could they rule it in.  They are also going to test for Sarcoidosis an autoimmune  disease.

I am worried about the invasive procedure, but I need to know what's wrong with me.

Just wondering if anyone else has gone/going through this procedure, who can help me to get through this next part of my journey.

  • Hi Polly3.

Sorry I have not had an Ebus, and was hoping someone who has had this procedure would come along and answer your post. By me answering it will bump the post, and hopefully someone will see it.

Hope it goes well tomorrow for you.

    Take care

  • Hello Polly3, I've had this procedure twice and it's nothing to worry about at all. I was sedated each time and before starting they numbed the throat with a spray. The whole thing didn't last long and I have only hazy memories of it, in fact many people can't remember anything about it at all.

When finished I had to rest for a short while, a chest x-ray and tea/coffee and a biscuit before being sent home. Because of the sedation I was told not to drive for the rest of the day. No lasting side effects other than a slight cough for a day or two.

I hope it goes OK for you and produces a good result for you.

Made in 1956. Tested to destruction.
  • Thank you for replying Chellesimo  for your quick response.

  • Hi Excavator

Thank you for putting my mind at rest about the procedure. I will be staying in hospital over night and discharged Thursday morning.
