Hi All this is my first time. I have None Small Cell in both lungs. I was first diagnosed 18 months ago. My treatment stopped working in February this year and Lockdown stopped treatment all together. In Sept i was accepted onto a trial for an unlicensed drug in Newcastle Freeman Hospital. This was successful but has been stopped as s CT found secondary tumours in my liver. They are small but they are there and the rules of the trial meant treatment had to stop. I have the opportunity of a new trial opening up inthe new year. I have been well since stoping treatment but had a bit of a do on Boxing Day. A pain started in my jaw and radiated over my left shoulder and back. It was excruciatong as if someone had a vice on my chest. I ended up in hospital to be checked over. The pain had stopped and the conclusion was that my tumour must have pressed on a nerve. I have not experienced this before. I was told to take paracetamol 4 hourly and come back if it recurred. My bloods were fine. My general obs were fine and my xray did not show anything other than what they would expect. Has anyone experienced this? Is there anything i am doing which is making it worse? Is there anything i can do to prevent it? Any help would be much appreciated
Hi Ellie
So sorry that you ended up in A&E over Xmas. Can I ask if on arrival you told them about the cancer? I only ask as this may have stopped them from looking beyond the cancer.for a reason for the pain.
Obviously I am not a doctor so am probably being over cautious here, but please do me a favour and ring your GP for a telephone consultation. Don't tell him/her what the A&E diagnosis, just explain your symptoms in the same words you have on here i.e. "A pain started in my jaw ..... someone had a vice in my chest."
It never hurts to get a second opinion, especially as it is obviously still on your mind.
Great news about the new trial!

Hi Ellie58, gosh that sounds frightening. I don't think there is anything you can do differently if it is a tumour pressing on a nerve, and I can only imagine how painful that was for you.
Good luck with the new trial. We are all very interested In trials, so please do keep us updated.
