    Hey Dee

I haven't had a pet, just ct's but as far as I understand it, the pet is done in the ct scanner so nothing like an MRI.

I would suggest you speak with the radiologist before and explain your anxieties, they see these things all day, every day and will work with you accordingly I'm sure.

    Stay Strong

I believe the PET element means that the whole process takes quite a bit more time than a normal ct so just prepare for that - ask the nurse how long they think and then tell them your worries and repeat once in the scanner room...

Exactly! No point in worrying about things...

You are new to this and very quickly you will get used to these things and take them in your stride - plus your new community is here to help when things get a bit much...

Stay Strong & Chill... (I think that will have to be my new tag line...) hahahaha

  • Hi Dee, a PET Scan is similar to having a CT scan, mine was a body scan they exclude the legs just had to roll my trousers down a bit, it takes a little longer, than a normal CT, but still of short duration,  when you are registered in for your appointment, you are then taken to a small room where you are injected with a radioactive tracer, which is Glucose based, feels a little cold on the injection fluid, then you have to wait on a bed or chair for up to an hour for the Glucose tracer to get everywhere in your body (they left me for 3/4 of an hour) not an hour, as you have had CT scan's it is very similar, experience.

That is my experience of it, not something for you to be overly anxious about, mine was at Leeds teaching hospital, assume they will all be similar.

    Hope this helps.
