  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and tests to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • So sorry you are in this situation.

Treatment options will depend on what type of cancer it is. I hope the PET scan was successful in locating the primary. Assuming it does, I would imagine the next steps would be to biopsy the primary and possibly also the secondary.

My own experience was PD-L1 positive triple negative breast cancer spread to the liver. Secondary cancer is always described as incurables, as it’s in your blood stream. Many people live long and reasonably normal lives with secondary cancer. My own cancer was treatable with a PD-1 checkpoint inhibitor immunotherapy (Pembrolizumab) plus chemo, and that, plus a couple of ablation procedures, had given me a good remission - I was originally diagnosed in 2022.

I can’t advise on going private as that would depend on your resources and insurance situation. A lot of the treatments are extremely expensive. I have had excellent support from the NHS.
