Hi, I’ve been a bit of a lurker on this site but I’m now finding myself in need of some help please. I’m 45 and was diagnosed with BC in 2008, after a double mastectomy and a chance finding, mets where found in my liver in 2014. I’ve been fortunate to have a long time battling this disease but after a recent pet scan, there have been significant changes and my onc has told me that we are at the end of my options. I’m starting EC (again) on Friday but this has really knocked me this time and the thought of leaving my 2 boys, 16 and 11, without a mother is tearing me apart. Generally, I feel very well so this result is even more of a shock. Just wondered if there is anyone out there who’s in a similar situation....crying out for some reassurance and positivity xx
Hi
I'm so sorry you're facing this. You don't say if you're a single mum?
Do you have family n friends u can share it with?
I don't have neither BC nor liver cancer ( mine was in my kidney, tho I have multiple mets)
Have you tried ringing the helpline on 0808:808 0000?
I hope someone from the group will b along shortly to talk to you online. Meanwhile your cancer nurse specialist should b there for you, case will b the helpline.
Hang on in there!
Sue
Hello loujay
I am sorry that you have received this news from your Onc, my husband has liver and lung mets, his primary is oesophageal, He was never given a long prognosis, but like you he feels really well. So we have chosen to believe that although the prognosis says one thing, we will not focus on that, we will focus on beating it, moving forwards, keeping well.
It is not the easiest of things to do, you will most certainly focus on your boys and this alone may offer your body the strength to keep fighting, is there anyone else you can ask advice from.
As buttercup has asked, do you have a support network around you?
I see you have posted another message on the forum some time ago, but I hope that you will get further responses to this one, I really hope you can hang on to the positivity that stands out in your post where you mention how fortunate you have been in the past, long may that continue.
Stay strong, focus on you, your body, your healing and I hope that you continue to be well.
Sending strength
