Liver lesion keep coming - frustrated by return

Last June, I experienced a relapse with a 1.2 cm lesion in my liver. After undergoing eight sessions of Oxaliplatin and ablation, the lesion successfully removed. However, within three months, a 5mm indeterminate lesion may be a met was discovered, which they are planning to ablate. I am uncertain why these lesions keep appearing despite intensive treatment. there is no permanent cure.

I'm really frustrated from past 5 years of this cancer journey.

  • Hi

I have just experienced a similar issue. The Primary was in the bowel, surgery, no chemo, but further tests revealed in the liver, so I had chemo and then resection, 2 years on now, I have it in the liver again. I am waiting to start chemo and will need surgery again after that. I can understand your frustration, as I have just started getting my life back on track.

    sending you positive vibes

  • thanks a lot and i wish you best of luck.

the 5mm lesion not seen on CT and PET but Radiologist suggest that the indeterminate session may be a new small met so they are going for ablation next week. Negative on CT and PET and some suspicious 5mm on MRI -- uff. I asked oncologist that I had heavy chemo for 7 months finished in Jan, it shrunk 5mm - when it was able to remove 5mm then it is obvious that it removed the micro meta - No answer from him.

  • Have you got a reply yet ?

I will start my chemo again on 15th hard to feel positive when my thoughts go off to what if and worst case scenario

  • Thry sre ablating on monday. They are not sure of what it is as PET is negative. However, they dont want to risk keeping it for few months and scan it to characterise therefore decided to ablate. I just finidhed chemo in Dec 2024.

Stsy strong. I had 12 sessions of folifiri in 2020, with colon and liver resection. 30 session of radiotherahy, stoma attached, had stoma reversal in 2021. Prritoneal relapse in 2022 with laprstomy surgery and relapse in liver in jul 2024 and this now,

i still hope all will stope at one point. Keep going. God bless

  • oh my, that's so much to go through.  I keep being told I am lucky as caught earlier both times but I do wonder why me!!!

will keep going as so much to live for especially my boys and finally getting married after 25 plus years in November
