Another tumour has grown in my liver which is not great, the other tumours after oxaliplatin chemo have stayed the same size. Consultant has recommended placlitaxel chemo now.
What other treatment could I consider? Feedback would be really welcome .
He has discounted radiotherapy and immunotherapy for me not sure why so I will query with home next week.
Hi Clare 24
That's good news that your original tumours have stayed the same size but it must have been very disappointing to hear that another tumour has appeared.
I'm not a member of this forum but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
I was on paclitaxel as adjuvant chemo for breast cancer and tolerated it very well.
Wishing you all the best
Some hospital trusts offer microwave ablation, but I think it depends on the type of cancer, how many mets and how large they are, plus there being no mets elsewhere. I have had this done twice. The first time was when I was first diagnosed with metastatic TNBC, and had just 1 small met in my liver and otherwise clear on a full body PET-CT. When I was scanned 3 months afterwards, I had 2 mets, a bit larger, and I was no longer eligible. I then went on immunotherapy (Pembrolizumab) and NAB-Paclitaxel. Great result on the tumours, but resulted in an immunotherapy related adverse event with significant organ damage. I had to stop treatment, however 6 months later, the tumours were still dormant. 2nd microwave ablation cleared them and I have been in remission since.
Thank you for this, I will ask the consultant when I next see him. I think I may have to many for this but there’s hope. I start a new chemo drug tomorrow after an allergic reaction to placlitaxel, very scary. Fingers crossed it shrinks the pesky new tumour or at least it stops this and others growing. The new chemo I have to have a PICC line fitted as a non toxic drug that works alongside the chemo is administered over 48 hrs.
Had a wig and some hair turbans arrive today - not quite brave enough to open them yet though
