I have triple negative breast cancer and recently discovered I have a small secondary in my liver, the area was described as zone 6, if that means anything to anyone. I was already part way through chemo for the TNBC when I had a scan for other reasons, which highlighted the liver lesion. A second scan at the end of chemo showed a partial response to the chemo, and no evidence of cancer elsewhere. I am booked in for microwave ablation of it on 13th December. My oncologist wanted me to have this, rather than resection, as the recovery time is quicker. I think the concern is making sure I am recovered enough to go onto immunotherapy combined with more chemo if my next scan in January shows signs of further spread.
Has anyone had this procedure, and if so, how easy was it to recover from, and was it effective in removing the cancer?
Hi Coddfish
I haven't had this procedure but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list.
I've done a search in the group for previous posts which mention 'microwave ablation' but drawn a blank I'm afraid. Of course, this doesn't mean that nobody in the group has had this but maybe they just haven't posted about it yet.
Wishing you all the best with your treatment

Glad to hear you've had it done but sorry to hear that it's been quite painful. I hope the pain will ease quickly and you can have an enjoyable Christmas.
