MDT waiting times

Hi all..

this all started back in May so I have posted before. I had liver lesions found and they suspected FNH which is not usually an issue and just needs to be monitored. I had a repeat MRI 2 weeks ago to check up on the nodules. 2 of them are still consistent with FNH, 1 of them has changed and they aren’t happy with it. They said it has concerning features and they aren’t sure if it’s cancerous or not from the scans so have referred to Aintree hospital MDT which i’m guessing is because they’re specialists with liver cancers etc.

After my results appointment in May I was made to think there’s nothing to worry about, so this turn of events has absolutely floored me. I am 27, never drank, I’m overweight but that’s about it. It’s just floored me. I have two young kids. They suggested the MDT may decide to monitor with MRI or to do a biopsy.

I was told the MDT should be within the next 2 weeks, but the referral letter says there are long delays in response due to staff shortage. Realistically how long should I have to wait for an MDT outcome? I’m terrified and feel like no one is telling me anything, just general timelines. How long did you wait? Can anyone enlighten me what happens after the MDT?

thank you

  • Hi

Waiting for the results of tests is always a horrible time.

I don't know what the normal wait to hear after a MDT meeting for liver is, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

If you have been assigned a CND (clinical nurse specialist) you could always give them a call and they should be able to tell you how long you might have to wait for your results.

I hope you don't have too much longer to wait.

    ((hugs))
