Hello
I am getting a Picc line put in tomorrow and I am terrified. I am not a needle person and squeamish about veins/blood.
Can any offer advice/reassurance?
Thank you so much
Hi SiCoTo . I'm not from this group but noticed you have not had a reply yet. Maybe a bit late as you may have had it done now but if not, I had PICC line in for several months. Didn't feel a thing when it was being inserted. Once in, most of the time it is covered with a dressing. You can carry on as normal with everyday things as long as nothing too strenuous. When bathing, you need to keep it dry. You can buy waterproof coverings online. Some hospitals supply them. I made do with covering it with clingfilm being a bit of a skinflint. You can also buy fancy covers for daily use to keep things clean and tidy. I had a roll of elastic bandage (tubigrip) and cut a fresh piece every day to cover it up. I hope it goes well. Let us know. Best wishes.
