Hello,
I was diagnosed with melanoma 5.6 breslow, clear wle and lymph nodes, I am close to my 9th pembro immunotherapy, however whilst having 3 monthly CT scans a tumor has been discovered on my right kidney.
Feel fed up as I was so looking forward to finishing the immunotherapy, and now will be having the tumor removed approximately 6 weeks after finishing it and don't know what could happen after it
Urologist and oncologist do not think it's related to melanoma, but won't know until it's removed and tested.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Best wishes to you all
Hi Beech
I am one of MacMillan’s community champions and whilst I haven’t had either melanoma or kidney cancer, didn’t want your post to go unanswered.
I think it’s good news that your urologist and oncologist think the tumour on your kidney is unlikely to be related to your melanoma. Hopefully that means your melanoma is safely in remission. Dealing with a new primary (if it does turn out to be cancer) is horrible but it’s better than having a secondary diagnosis as it makes treatment with curative intent a possibility.
Wishing you all the best.

Good evening Beech.
I see you have already had some lovely support but wanted to say I am sorry you have to have surgery for kidney. I would not try to think to far ahead. Easier said than done.east they it eas found on your routine 3 monthly scan and not hidden away for another few months. So I hope this gives so comfort.
Have they decided to do a full removal or partial? I had to have a full removal of my right kidney.
Take care, and as you can see we are all here to support and listen anytime.
Best wishes,
Jamie
Hello Jamie 696
Thank you for taking the time to reply, I appreciate that.
Yep I'm having a partial nephrectomy, I've got my 9th and hopefully final pembro immunotherapy tomorrow for the melanoma, and the urologist is planning the partial nephrectomy in approx 6 weeks he said to give my body to settle after the immunotherapy.
I have an appointment with oncologist to discuss recent MRI and CT scans in 10days, so hopefully all is well regards melanoma and nephrectomy can go ahead
Again thanks for replying, and best wishes
Beech
Hi Beech i had a melanoma in 2021, diagnosed with breast cancer last August and during a routine scan they also found i had kidney cancer. Finished chemo in April, radiotherapy finished in May and have just had a partial nephrectomy on Friday. All 3 cancers supposedly unrelated primaries! I have pushed for a genetics appointment which I have in July
Hello Ariellae0c649
Thank you for replying.
Hope you are recovering well from your partial nephrectomy.
It's difficult accepting 2 cancer scares, never mind 3, I send you all my very best wishes for your genetic testing and future.
Positive wishes.

Hello ladies.
Im not a doctor but i have cowdens.under that breast, colon, kidney, thyroid, uterus and skin come under it.i find myself training people in the wonderful NHS about it.ive learnt about it from American sites.its 1 in 200000 so i guess im a rare one.it was discovered in 80s.you can read my story should you wish.
Its a long story but i had a test after breast cancer the first time.Blood tests can come back negative but mine was positive and took a year to come back.i get screened for.most of them but skin but i try to cover up or wear a hat.my consultant was convinced i had brac gene.i have similar but based on chromosone.
I agree on what you are saying.if i said anything thats helped great, if not please ignore.
Wishing you all the best in your journeys.

Ive not had all.those areas i mentioned means people with cowdens are prone to getting ,doesnt mean they will.I had mastectomy and prophylactic hysterectomy.thyroid was out. Currently have yearly checks on my kidney so and so and got a mark on lung being 'observed'.
All thebest
