Kidney cancer. Panic attacks and bowel issues

Hello

This is my first post.

Diagnosed with kidney cancer August last year. Full nephrectomy. It all came as a big shock and surgery happened very quickly.

A few months after surgery my mental health started to decline. I also suffer severe bowels issues since surgery.

I have been  experiencing really bad panic attack/anxiety symptoms which has left me housebound at times.

The GP has sent me for cardiology tests to check the heart is OK

The bowel issues have been intermittent since surgery. Chronic  diarrhoea, pain and terrible gas. This has also caused me to be housebound during flare ups.

I am really struggling and would be really happy to hear from anyone who has had or still has similar issues.

  • Hello

I am Brian, One of the Community Champions here on the Online Community. I have just noticed your post has gone unanswered. I can't answer it myself, however by me replying your post will be "bumped up" to the top of the page and I hope seen and answered by other members of the kidney cancer group.

Don't forget our Support Line is open to you on 0808 808 00 00 (8am to 8pm 7 days a week) I am sure calling them and having a chat may help in your situation.

Another idea, as you are housebound at times. How about having a "Macmillan Buddy" - this is your personal Buddy who will contact you once a week for a chat - it can be about anything, not just cancer - here's the link you need:

    Macmillan Buddies.

    I hope the above helps.

    Best wishes - Brian.
