Hi all,
Had a nice phone call with the Royal Free this morning, which was bang on time. For those that don't know, I have one remaining kidney and been under active surveillance for almost a year, due to a tumour. The tumour is behaving itself, but growing and on balance is likely to be malignant.
The upshot is that I will be having a partial nephrectomy. We did discuss freezing if off, which is less intrusive, but it requires an upfront biopsy and in my opinion delay the inevitable. The mass is type 1a and highly operable. I am very relieved at the result, as I found active surveillance rather stressful. I've had plenty of ops, including a radical cystectomy and a nephrectomy, so I'm not phased.
All in all, very relieved.
Hiya Ianw good to have an update. The way I see it, if u are happy abdvur team are happy then it's a good thing.
When mentally struggling with surveillance and waiting for results your health takes even more of a dive.
So well done for making a decision and can now move forward
You'll be in my thoughts
Hugs
Exactly the way I feel. In control and getting great support from the CSNs in particular. I've had plenty of surgery in the past, so I'm not phased, but for first time in about six months I feel things are moving on and the stress levels have really dropped.
Thank you for the support and kind thoughts.
