Hi everyone my name is Martin I was diagnosed with Renal cell carcinoma in December 2023 and had a radical nephrectomy in February 2024 . It was pure luck that it was discovered by a radiographer and when removed was stage three so I was very fortunate indeed . Unfortunately I had severe constipation following surgery as I don't tolerate opioids well and then my whole world changed as I lost my beloved dog Neo after nearly fourteen wonderful years.

I have just finished a nine month course of pembrolizumab and am currently well and cancer free , yay , although obviously there is a 20% chance of a reoccurrence,  I have been under the amazing team at the Royal Marsden and have been cared for by them and will continue to do so for evermore I guess.  Just thought I would touch base and say hello Wave

Hope this finds you as well as can be ,have a great day lots of love M.

  • Hiya  Martin...your timing was similar to mine. My op was Feb 2024 too but I didn't have immunotherapy because of concerns about autoimmune disease. Unfortunately mine has migrated to my lungs, but very small. Got my next scan due in 2 weeks so will take it from there.  I tend to sleep alot but I still balance my life somehow. I got a puppy in 2023 after a heart attack. She is amazing. Best thing I did after losing my other dog during the pandemic.  My new puppy is a border collie. I don't know whether it's because I got her when I was poorly, but she is very patient with me. She isn't manic and I can't walk her everyday. But my hubby takes her on a really good hike once a week and I try the fields when I am well.. we also keep chickens so she helps me with them twice a day and has a good play in the garden.

I have learned to take each day as it comes and keep smiling

It's good you are doing so well. And nice that u have touched base...hugest hugs and all the very best
