Another Newbie

I had a Radical Nephrectomy in June. I was advised to cancel my May Holiday & my Sept Holiday. 4 months in I now want to go on Holiday once again. I am afraid, you will find once you mention the "C" word, insurance companies go silly. Some won't insure you, and other's will double or treble the premium, I am with Avanti, they charged me and the wife, £382 from £174. Try them or Insurewith. But I'm afraid most insurance Companies, only like it when you are Post OP I'm afraid.

Hi Muzza47uk and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

A holiday to Spain sounds lovely, especially as your doctor has said that you are fit to travel. I assume that the travel insurer that you took out insurance with when you booked your trip has now said that they will no longer cover you. Unfortunately this often happens.

If your existing insurers won't cover you now, can I recommend that you join us over in the travel insurance group. Once you've joined, look for the thread called 'Recommended Travel Insurance' as that's where the majority of recommendations are. As there are lots, the best thing to do is to make a list and then settle down to start phoning.

It would be great if you could pop something about about your diagnosis and planned treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. Thanks we were with Avanti and about to renew when this all blew up. They actually declined to offer new cover as Im mid situation despite kidney being removed AFTER trip. Tried loads of others so far Free Spirit and Saga were able to offer at £572 and £676. Some wnated as much as £4500 ! Madness.

Despite me suggesting they were able to choose not to cover the cancer as its not causing any issues and Im fit to fly.

Then I was on Aviva's page (my private health insurers) and O clicked on tehi Travel Insurance link

Dont know why I did not try before

They have offered it at £150 WITHOUT cover for the kidney cancer which is fine

And a good policy too!

That's great news that you've been able to get travel insurance now and thanks for offering to post it for others to see as well.
