Hi

I had a kidney removed 3 weeks ago, still have no appetite, stil feel nauseous, have back pain , dizziness and very tired. Hope this is normal, has anyone else had these symtoms after 3 weeks?......I thought things would improve by now.

  • Welcome Syd.
Can’t say I had the same post op symptoms as you. We’re all different but remember you’ve had major surgery. Your body’s bound to react.
I suggest you discuss this with your consultant at your post op follow up appointment or your specialist nurse before then if symptoms really getting you down.
    Wishing you well soon

    Rojan

  • Thanks Rojan

I appreciate your reply, Ill give it another few days and see if there is any improvement.

    Thanks Again

    Syd

  • Hi Syd.
Just checking in to see if things are improving for you.

  • Hi Rojan

Things have very much improved in the last few days, still a bit of back pain and dizziness but Ive been out walking and feel a lot better. Once again I really appreciate your reply

    Thanks

  • For the first three weeks I was shuffling about like an old man and still in a lot of discomfort. 10 weeks on and I’m feeling a lot better, still some discomfort around the site of the op, the doctor says that’s due to nerve damage. Im still not back to my pre operation weight and still 3 stone lighter than I was this time last year but my appetite is back. Hope you’ve continued to improve. My advice is don’t try to do too much, I did and my body quickly rebelled!

  • I was advised by the anaesthetist to walk as much as I could cope with after the op, and i tried but pretty soon cut it back as my body couldnt cope. Im now almost 5 weeks after the op and still feel light headed and nauseous but other than that feeling a bit better. I know what you mean about the weight loss, Ive lost 2 stone but Im not too unhappy about that and still havent really got my appetite back. Also feel pretty tired still but Ill get there. hope you continue to improve and thanks for the reply.
