I was diagnose on 28th April after having a CT scan for a cough . I am having a Laparoscopic Simple Nephrectomy on the 12th of June. I  feel I have been left on my own to explore this myself. I was hoping the forum could give me some help, practical advice regarding this and what to expect afterwards. Any advice would be most helpful.

I am very scared I know this is normal but feel alone.

  • Please don't be scared. I had an oncology nurse I could ring any time. Also Macmillan community helped answer any questions. The surgeon regards a lapatascopic Nephrectomy as routine these days. I had 5 small incitions and a catheter and wasn't allowed to get out of bed for 1 day. 3 days later I was walking about, sitting in chair and home. It is painfull, it is major surgery but after 3 months I'm back to normal. Clear of cancer. Being careful about lifting for another 3 months. Hope that helps Oakley. Lx

  • Thank you for your reply. I don't have an oncology nurse to contact. I did speak with MacMillan.I was told and that was it. The information you gave me does help. It wont be long now. Hope you continue to improve as time goes by,

  • The kidney forum has mountains of info if you have to energy to read it all. !

  • Just messaging to see how you are? I had a robotic partial nephrectomy on 5th June, so a week ahead of you. Still a bit sore and get tired if I do too much..... I'm not very good at sitting and doing nothing!

I haven't had any results, but have an appointment next month with my consultant.

    Hope you're recovering well x
