Hi Donna,
I was in the same situation. In January 2022 i was diagnosed with cancer in the left kidney. On the 1st of February 2023 i went in for operation to remove the whole kidney. I was informed before the operation that my kidney function was around 35 (eGFR) for the two kidneys. After it has now settled at 33 which is stage 3b chronic kidney disease. At the moment my kidney is managing and being monitored. Just gone past my 12 month review and all is still clear.
i was in hospital for two days and back in work 6 weeks later.
The sooner you get your operation the better as you don't have time to dwell on the issue.
Take care and welcome to the group.
I've been given an appointment today for the 11th April so not long to wait. They took a while deciding whether to remove kidney or not as it was working OK. They are hopefully they can be removed with no further treatment needed. Thanks for the message x
Had the surgery done was on the high dependent ward for 2 days before moving onto a main ward. Came home after 5 days . I have been having pain so gp has given mee some stronger pain killers. Just got to have the 34 staples removed Tuesday and go back for follow up with Surgeon on the 16th May
