Hi everyone

I’m new to the group had my right kidney removed 12 months ago after being diagnosed with stage 2 kidney cancer at the same time I was diagnosed with onset adult stills disease which is quite rare I’m just wondering if anyone on here has got the same issues struggling at the minute with navigating what I can & can’t take medication wise & it’s affecting my mental & physical health, thanks

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It must be a very difficult time dealing with two diagnoses at the same time and I can understand why you might be finding knowing what medication to take difficult. Do you have a CNS (cancer nurse specialist), sometimes referred to as a keyworker or Macmillan nurse, as they should be able to help organise your medication?

I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet so responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again. Hopefully someone from the group will be in a similar situation and can share their experiences with you.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnoses and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi

no I don’t have a cancer nurse as up to now I don’t have cancer as it was removed & now being monitored, I’m just finding it hard to talk to someone will stills disease with one kidney

    thanks

  • Perhaps it works differently for kidney cancer as I have had both malignant melanoma and, more recently, breast cancer. Although I'm free of both of these cancers I still have a CNS for my melanoma and another for the breast cancer, while I'm being monitored, both of whom I can contact if I have any worries or want to ask any questions.
