Ct scan July 22 picked up tumours in breast, lung and kidney.  Seen and biopsied breast within 2 weeks.  Unfortunately malignant with node involvement.

Lung tumour eventually removed and found to ve benign in November (best birthday present possible )

Finally seen by urologist in December.  Ct and biopsy just before Christmas.   Results eventually at end of January. Malignant.  Currently waiting for nephrectomy.   The waiting is so frustrating.

Practical advice please.  Nightdress or pyjamas for hospital?

How much are you able to do when you are discharged.  Ie and you able to prepare simple meals, basic laundry tasks etc

Thanks all.  Any advice appreciated as I am a carer to my husband

  • Hi Puppet1

i had my left kidney removed on the 11th Jan I had waited months to have my op but eventually got there

it was nowhere near as bad as I expected I had keyhole surgery robotic assisted I have 5 small incisions that have been glued I had very little pain and managed with only paracetamol I was in icu for a couple of days but only because my oxygen levels were low

i was in hospital only 6days and was glad to be home I have a lovely husband who looks after me but apart from being a bit sore I have been fine was told not to lift or do anything strenuous for a few weeks

i think you would be better with a nightie as the waistline on pyjamas can rub on your cuts and when you are discharged I would make sure you have a cushion for the journey home and put it under your seatbelt to stop it rubbing

I was told when discharged to just take I slowly and if you feel like a nap have one

I have just had my post op appointment and the tumour was cancer but they are confident they have removed it all but unfortunately I have now been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer no connection just unlucky

Try not to worry which I know it’s not easy and if there’s anything else I can help you with please ask

    Best wishes

    Lesley

  • Thanks for your advice Lesley.

I think the waiting is the most frustrating especially when you know you need further surgery followed by treatment

Feel as though my life has been on hold for the past 6 months

    All the best
