Renal mass on left kidney found 6 months ago. I have also been found to have aneamia. Had iron transfusion 4 weeks ago...is this normal..bit scared as there not operating. L♡
Depends how big it is and the location? Are you getting CT scans every 3 months? Kidney cancer is slow growing. There's usually reasons why they don't operate eg too small, tricky location so surgery would be dangerous, or they wait until the KC is large enough to operate to maximise chances of success. Perhaps they are fixing the iron first to best prepare for the op?
I had my partial nephrectomy about 10/12 years ago - at the time I was told it was 45mm, and that they operate when it’s above 40mm. They took 40% of my kidney away, the bruising was Bad, as they couldn’t do it by keyhole surgery. The KC has now returned, but I’m told by the urology doc that surgery is not possible (astounding my GP says) and they’re ‘watching & waiting!’ They’ve not told me what they’re waiting for, but I’m in limbo atm.
PS - my current/latest CT scan showed the tumour to be 65mm - well big enough for surgery, but I guess that would result in me losing my right kidney completely. The state of ‘limbo’ is very frustrating.
I’ve a meeting on the 21st with the prof to discuss things.
