Hi all I am new to the group and not sure what help I want but thought I would try and reach out here to see if it can do anything for me.
I have tried a couple of counselling sessions, antidepressants are not for me but I feel I am running out of options some days are just very very hard even though I know there are others in far worse positions I just can’t seem to get myself out of this constant down feeling which hits rock bottom regularly.
I just feel there are so many things coming at me from different directions, a new disability to adjust to, the inability to exercise when I was so active before, feeling like a bad parent as I was diagnosed when my baby was about 10 months old. The stress on my family. Having such a rare cancer means lack of knowledge and the fb group I have found has only lead me to see that it is a very high reoccurrence cancer. Sorry for the long post I will pop my bio info here just incase it helps with any direction in what to do.
Adrenal cancer, surgery to remove tumour and adrenal gland April 2022. Mitotane (tablet chemo) started May 2022 for approx 5 years. 5 weeks of radiotherapy in August.
aged 31, have a 1.5yr old child.
Surgery and treatment means I will forever be steroid dependent so daily tablets as well as chemo tablets and have to carry an emergency hydrocortisone injection as I am at risk to going into adrenal crisis which has happened twice already and put me in hospital.
Hi there Gem91 Nice to say hello, but of course, I am sorry to meet here. I wonder whether you have tried speaking to the Macmillan helpline. I have phoned them before. They are very knowledgeable and supportive.
The Macmillan forum is divided up into lots of different groups. I think your cancer is covered in the neuroendocrine cancer group Neuroendocrine cancer forum .
I am sorry to hear that you were diagnosed when your baby was so young. But this definitely does not make you a bad parent! Please don't let yourself even think this.
I hope you give this forum a try. there's always someone on here in a group who has experienced the same and members frequently share things that have worked for them. Sending hugs.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
