Hello everyone, nice to be among such an amazing group of people Slight smile

My story:

I’m 55 now and was first diagnosed with clear cell RCC in 2014 with when I was 47. I had a successful radical nephrectomy of the right kidney within a few months of the diagnosis.

The cancer metastasised to the bone of my right humerus (which wasn’t very humorous) and I had the bone and part of elbow replaced with an implant in 2016.

All was clear until 2020 when scans revealed the cancer had jumped to my right femur. Another operation and another implant.

Then last year, regular scans revealed the cancer to be in my lungs, pancreas and possibly spine. I then started combination treatment of Avelumab/Axitinib which I have been on since July 2021. It has been successful so far, the cancer has shrunk and then stabilised though I’m under no illusions it will disappear.

What I’ve found most challenging this year is that the treatment has played havoc with my adrenal glands and my body has stopped naturally producing steroids and managing my intake has left me tired and sick at times. It would be good to compare notes with anyone else facing the same challenges.

I’m happy to share more.
